Be a Fan at the Special Olympics
The Summer State Games are fast approaching and we are looking forward to another amazing year in Newberg. The “Bring a Friend” campaign gets fans in the stands during Game Ceremonies, held on July 14 at 7 p.m. at Newberg High School. Many of the athletes coming from around the state will not have “cheering sections” of their own, and we want to be sure all are enthusiastically welcomed. Special Olympics of Oregon is reaching out to the community, inviting them to be “Fans in the Stands” and adopt a local program to root for. The “adopt a local program” initiative invites a group of 20+ people to cheer for that group of athletes as they are introduced during Games ceremonies. It’s a pretty spectacular and fun experience. Those who want to sign up to be a Fan in the Stands and cheer their adopted Local Program can email Ryan Avery at [email protected] and he will provide all of the information.
